House Bouwer, Tredenham Estate  Bloemfontein (2017-2019)

This luxury family house in Tredenham Valley Estate outside Bloemfontein started off with the owners giving us the opportunity to discuss different sites in the estate. We opted for a site where one could enter the garages directly from a cul de sac. A dramatic entrance leads down to the front door and opens up onto a braai area with a rim pool with the indigenous bush koppies in the distance. Materials used are local stone, plastered walls, and cladded timber composite. for the service box housing the bathrooms on the southern side. The steel structure northern facade opens up towards the view but is protected from the sun with deep roof overhangs and sun screens.
